PROFILE
The Iron Mountain Project consists of 5,930 acres of net mineral claims and surface acres located in the Iron Springs District, approximately 20 miles west of Cedar City, southwestern Utah. The project is roughly divided into two areas on Iron Mountain; the Comstock/Mountain Lion pit, on which production ceased in 1995, on the east side of the mountain, and the Rex deposit on southwest side of Iron Mountain. The southerly part of the claim includes five old pits: Blowout, Blackhawk (or Columbia) Pinto, Burke, and Duncan, on which production ceased before 1975. The property package includes 400 acres of irrigated agricultural farm land containing 2,000 acre feet in water rights.
The Comstock/Mountain Lion pit has an approved state of Utah Large Mine Plan in place for the resumption of work. The existing Mining and Reclamation Plan is considered to be sufficient for the resumption of mining activities in the Comstock/Mountain Lion pit and stockpiles. Total district production from inception to the present is estimated to be about 80,000,000 metric tons.
ROAD
The Comstock/Mountain Lion mine is located on the east flank of Iron Mountain, 3 miles north of Highway 56, accessible by a graveled, two-lane county road. The Rex deposit on the southwest flank of Iron Mountain is located about 1.5 km northeast of Highway 56, and presently is accessed by several one and two-lane mine property roads.
POWER
Electrical service and natural gas are available to Iron Mountain. Natural gas delivered by pipeline is available in Cedar City and the Kern River large-diameter natural gas pipelines pass through the Escalante Valley several miles northwest of Iron Mountain. Several secondary electrical power lines are in place at Iron Mountain and the Comstock/Mountain Lion mine.RAIL
The Union Pacific Railroad main line from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles passes through Lund, Utah, with spur service on heavy-duty rail to Iron Springs and Cedar City. The 14.6-mile Iron Mountain spur line track and switching facilities remain intact and ready for use.
